We help make your designs

Apart from offering friendly and helpful advice on all aspects of lasercutting, laser engraving and 3D printing, we can also advise on any specialist design or material requirements you may have.

We’ll walk you through every step of the way even if you’ve never worked with a laser cutting service before.

Being a small and responsive outfit, our turnaround times are generally very fast but do depend on our current workload. If your timescales are tight and we can’t do it, or it’s not something we think we can do better than another specialist, we’ll be honest and tell you.  We can try and refer you to someone who will do the best job possible for you.

We’re passionate about what we do

We’re basically slightly geeky designers who are maybe a little bit too obsessed with high tech making methods. We like to innovate and push the boundaries of what’s possible with the latest technology. With our office located east of Manchester, we’re here to help you make your ideas come to life, whatever it may be.

We’re experienced

Over the last four years in business, we’ve learned our craft the traditional way by doing a lot of laser cutting, from the tiniest engraving jobs for non-metallic jewellery and product marking, through to large scale art installations for hospitals. We’ve streamlined our production methods and aim to offer a very fast turnaround. When you’re up against a deadline we’ll pull all the stops out. We’ve been experimenting with materials and refining our techniques to make sure we can do what we say we can do. We regularly handle individual prototyping jobs, through to mass production laser jobs for large retailers.

Laser cutter

Each laser cutter/engraver machine has its own merits and drawbacks. The larger Chinese machines are generally great for laser cutting thick materials with great accuracy.  They have the power to cut through materials cleanly and quickly.  In some ways they are superior to the highly engineered machines, and have come on leaps and bounds in recent years, especially with newer controllers and third party software from Lightburn.

The Epilog laser engravers have a narrower beam from an RF source, which is a good thing for precision work, with a trade off being a lower power laser source.  Their “flying head” design, superior build quality, high speed servo motors and native printer drivers means workflow can be faster.  It also enables them to engrave incredibly quickly and accurately in comparison, at much higher resolutions of up to 1200dpi, compared to 300dpi.  For small scale, high precision, fast and accurate work, the Epilogs are superior.

The Wisely CO2 galvo laser is an absolute beast for volume engraving when coupled with Lightburn. The limiting factor becomes the power of the laser source, in this case an RF 40W tube, as the scanning head is so fast the laser source can barely keep up.

We will advise which machine is best for the job so you don’t end up paying more for an inferior product.

Hire by the hour, hire by the day

Apart from our normal “remote hands” service where you send us your files for quoting and cutting, we can offer laser and 3D printer hour by the day.  We are happy to quote for hiring out the Epilog laser cutters, including extraction and all required software and cabling, for your demonstrations, exhibitions, corporate events and geeky parties!
